The French Ministry of Internet – e-gov study case

Right now, at LeWeb, there is a fireside Chat with Nathalie Kosciusko Morizet, France Minister of State to the Prime Minister, with responsibility for Forward Planning, Assessment of Public Policies and Development of the Digital Economy (Secrétaire d’Etat chargée de la Prospective et du Développement de l’économie numérique) and Loic Le Meur.

I  really found very interesting the french governamental structures trying to focus more on the Internet. With 4 billion eur investments in the Internet in the  next period, we might see major changes in Europe.

The government is moving on the Internet everywhere in the world: the city using microblogging to monitor emergencies, the army using online games in order to recruit youngsters, schools and universities using social networks in order to promote cultural events, etc.

I can only think of the reforms and steps Romania has to make in the next years in order to change the approach regarding new media. This year we had the chance to see Romanian President, Mr. Traian Basescu, starting his Twitter account and attending The World Blogging Forum in Bucharest. It was for the first time in Romanian history when a president delivered a speech about new media, blogging, social networks and the need to modernize the local environment.

Maybe 2010 will be the year of E-Government in Romania, I’m just tired to see only old and expired politicians promoting mainstream measures for old folks, pensions and basic agriculture :)
