Internet Advertising Revenue Report – Romanian Online Advertising Industry Survey, 2010 First Six-Month

In 2008, PwC Romania has been asked by the IAB Romania to assess the value of the local online advertising market (Romanian websites) through a quantitative survey with leading companies generating Internet/online advertising revenues. The same eleven companies (proposed by IAB Romania) participated both in the first edition of the survey, covering 2007 full year and first six months of 2008 (H1-08), and in the second one, covering the last six months of 2008 (H2-08). Three new companies were added and participated in the third edition, covering the first six months of 2009 (H1-09), and other four new companies in the fourth one, covering the last semester of 2009 (H2-09), rising the total number of participants to 18. A new company joined the current edition, covering the first half of 2010 (H1-10), while one of the previous participants no longer submitted data.

H1-10:
• 42 million lei Total Revenue
• 6% increase compared to the previous six-month (H2-09)
• 65% and 24% increase compared to the same period of 2009 and 2008 respectively
• Embedded Formats remain the most common type, followed by Interruptive Formats and Content Sponsorships
• Telecoms, Finance and Motors remain the leading industries

Internet advertising revenues for the surveyed companies (“revenues”) total approximately 42 million lei for
H1-10, an increase of 6% compared to H2-09. The H1-10 revenues are also 65% higher than H1-09 and 24%
higher than H1-08
.

Embedded Formats remain the most common type of Internet advertising, followed at considerable distance by Interruptive Formats and Content Sponsorships.

Among the different industries using online advertising, Telecoms remains the leading industry in H1-10, as in
the last three previous semesters. It is seconded by Finance. After first three semesters in 2007-2008 as leader,
Finance maintains the second position, except for H1-09 when it sees a drop to third place. Motors comes, at
some distance, on the third place.
