Vodafone Romania suspected of sponsoring antisemitism and discrimination

Right now I’m in Paris but a few friends from Romania told me that they were working on a report for a non-governmental organization monitoring antisemitism online.

The mind blowing thing is that they also check to see who is financing bloggers of websites that promote racial hatered and antisemitism and that they discovered Vodafone paid advertising on blog pages:

“Traiasca mafia evreiasca de la Hollywood!”/Translation: “Long live the Jewish Mafia at Hollywood” – source Zoso.ro – link

Vali Petcu (Romanian blogger) in a dialogue with a taxi driver: “- Da, merg la vot, jegosul asta de Basescu o sa moara de mana mea. Evreul dracului!  / – Hai dom’ne ca nu e singurul evreu, mai sunt si altii. / – Spuneti-mi mie cine, dom’ne, ca astia conduc Romania si o seaca de bani. [...] Translation: Yes, I’ll vote, I’ll kill myself this fitlhy guy, Basescu. God damned Jew! / -C’mon mister, he is not the only jew, there are others also. / -Tell me who? These guys (the jews) are really running things in Romania and take away all the money [...] ” source zoso.ro

Another post – Why we do not care about the Jewish Cemetery: “[..]nu mă simt vinovat de Holocaust ÅŸi mă deranjează victimizarea pe care o practică ovreii de vreo câţiva zeci de ani încoace [...]” Translation: “I don’t feel guilty for the Holocaust and I’m bothered by the jews posing as victims in the last years” – source zoso.ro

There are over 30 posts on the website with antisemite, racial and hatered posts:
“Sunt sătul de mizerabilii ăştia care îmi tot bagă pe gât Holocaustul. Ok, a fost acum 50 de ani, a fost groaznic, am înÅ£eles, get over it! AÅ£i fost oprimaÅ£i, bun, gata! Nu e nevoie să îmi aduceÅ£i aminte la fiecare două zile că au murit nu ÅŸtiu câţi oameni în lagăre. La fel ÅŸi cu Å£iganii. Am înÅ£eles, aÅ£i fost oprimaÅ£i, gata, marÅŸ în p*la mea la muncă!”

Translation: “I had enough with this filthy guys (ref. to jews) that force me to swallow the Holocaust. Ok, it was 50 years ago, it was terrible, I understand, get over it! You were oppressed, good, now it is over! There is no need to remind me every two days that some people died in concentration camps. Same thing with the gypsies, I understand, you were oppressed, that is over, march (Nazi army command) the f*** to work!” – souce: Vali Petcu, Zoso.ro

A new star fighting the jews is born in Media

This is incredible! In 2009 and this person is walking free, he is invited by PROTV (part of CME) in TV shows to speak and some journalists consider him the most influential blogger in Romania.

MediaPro (Romanian media Group owned by CME) it’s not the only media group doing questionable things as they invite this person in TV shows, newspapers and their magazines. By promoting this person, they also contribute to the large spread of antisemitism in Romania without even knowing it.

Corruption in Media Buying and unethical practices encourage antisemitism

My thought is that Vodafone Romania and the Vodafone brand is a victim of a corrupt chain of people acting unethical and indirectly encouraging antisemitism but on a large scale involving heavy financing and big corporates.

The company selling the advertising spaces on the Romanian antisemite blogs is called Standout and it is managed by Ionut Oprea. This person is also IAB Romania Managing Director and a close friend of the people promoting antisemite subversive websites in Romania.

Vodafone is just an example of a campaign running right now on antisemite blogs and financing these people in order to spread more hatered content.

There are other brands affected by unethical advertising in Romania and I think that media companies and adverting agencies should be aware before planning advertising campaigns on blogs. This year I could notice big companies like Erste Bank – BCR (Scoala de Bani), Orange Romania, Microsoft or Dacia (part of Group Renault) being tricked into this scam and paying for adveriting not knowing what is happening on this blogs.

Antisemite subversive people using online propaganda in Romania

Vali Petcu is not an isolated case. Imagine that there is a strong business structure connected up to Romanian IAB Director or top media managers in Romania (PROTV is the leading Romanian television).

Vodafone reaction team is expected

Probably everybody expects Vodafone to react after exposing the fraud and antisemitic behavior and I’m pretty sure they will. Still, the problem exists, the advertising market should be aware of this and maybe the authorities should act upon this issues.

This is how brands become victims of bad advertising planning and this is why we all have to suffer when extremist and subversive bloggers use propaganda in order to promote the things they have on their hidden agenda.

Advertisers, beware!
