Online Advertising Market Business Watch in Romania

… and a very fun TV promo:
Yesterday morning I found out that the first figures from the study conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers for IAB about the internet advertising market in Romania are available and need final processing before going public.
It seems that there are some issues unsolved regarding the figures provided by some sales houses but the overall numbers should be closer to reality. In a discussion I had last evening with Doru Panaitescu (at Dorin Boerescu’s and Alex Visa’s HyperActive party), he suggested that we should multiply by 2 the numbers provided by PricewaterhouseCoopers in order to have a clearer view
I think it’s interesting to see if the online advertising market in Romania is really 20 mil, 30 mil or 40 mil, what is the real growth and so on…
but no matter what the figures IAB will provide, I’m sure that we’ll have plenty of talks and fights on the subject.
Gusti Roman writes a post on his blog about the new development of our financial websites in 2009. Saptamana Financiara and Financiarul are the most powerful financial brands in Romania for the business community and I’m very optimistic that we’ll drive healthy growth and positive online results will be achieved by Q2 of 2009
My personal estimate is that these website will be “SOLD OUT” most of the time.
Sorin Cristea is our new colleague at Intact Interactive beginning with this week. After starting his online adventure at ARBOmedia (a few years ago), Sorin was part of the best online sales team in the market (2007-2008) at Boom. I’m happy that he decided to join our team as our Sales Manager and I wish him good luck.
Few people know that besides our four seniors in the sales team, we have a strategic consultant at INTACT Interactive: Cristian Mihalache (Advertising Sales Director – Economics and Reference Division – for Ringier, Evenimentul Zilei & Capital 2006-2008), now the New Business Director for INTACT Media Group.
The good news is that we prepare our new headquarters (we already have “the Interactive garage” and “the viral cat”) – if you aim high and wish to join our team of highly skilled ninjas, please send a link to your avatar and we’ll ping back to you
According to a poll of 2,800 people in six countries, 76 percent have viewed online video, and 45 percent are regular viewers. Among people who have watched online video, 15 percent say that as a result they watch “slightly less” TV, while another 36 percent said they watch “significantly less” TV, the IBM report stated.
“The industry must find appealing ways to monetize new content sources or risk a similar fate as that of the music industry where value shifted away from core players,” said the study’s co-author, Saul Berman, The Hollywood Reporter reported.
Yahoo! Europe has problems – sells European shopping site
Yahoo! bought Kelkoo in 2004 for €475 million, and will sell it to Jamplant for less than €100 million, in a loss-making deal of at least €375 million. | details here
Lycos Europe has problems – most likely to close
After being for sale for almost eight months, Lycos Europe has acknowledged that no one wants to buy the portal, and announced Wednesday it will close its Web hosting and portal activities, and begin stripping its assets and putting those on the auction block. | details here
IAB: Internet ad spending to stay flat
According to the latest data from the Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers, online ad spending is on track to remain flat for the rest of the year. Spending in the third quarter accounted for US$5.9 billion, only 2 percent ahead of each of the previous two quarters, Media Post reported.
I met yesterday with my favorite group of trainers (Bogdan Grigore managed in the last 12 months to get together a genuine and very sharp social network) – the idea is to see each other on regular basis experimenting training ideas, techniques and various exercises. Usually there are guest speakers and yesterday we had Daniel Bichis (master trainer NLP) talking about nested loops (I hear that Richard Bandler and John La Valle have a whole training built on this technique).
If you’re doing therapeutic work this technique will allow your patient lose the conscious mind by closing its channels and render the unconscious mind more suggestible.
A great conversational tool proper for therapy, anchoring, trainings and so on. Now, at the end of the day I have a certain dilemma somehow related to the subject: although being an NLP practitioner pays really good (I have friends that discard from ~2.500 EUR to 10.000 EUR for a single course), I still can’t understand how come all the personal websites of the greatest trainers seem to be from the Stone Age – here is an example (90’s design).
