Although part of the same media group, PROTV and MediaPro Interactive seem to have different paths in 2009. Continue reading ‘PROTV / MediaPro Interactiv – plans for 2009′

It seems that Romania is turning green
– I attended yesterday a public debate presented by Umbrela Verde (The Green Umbrella) and moderated by Mihai Morar in a very nice coffee place downtown Bucharest. Continue reading ‘Tuborg CSR – Recycling at Cafepedia’
I was blogging here about their 2007 update last January – on the IWS website we had:

- 1,769,300 Internet broadband connections as of Sept/07, per ITU, 7.9% p.r. Continue reading ‘12 million Internet Users in Romania, 53.9% penetration – IWS update’

A few days ago I was blogging about our initiative to fight piracy on the Romanian Internet. Now I’m happy to say that I already received over 24 replies from our industry colleagues and that we started a very productive dialog – the publishers understood our concerns and know that only together we can make another step towards normality. Continue reading ‘First results – another step towards normality’
I’ve seen many suggestions and ideas on blogs this week and I felt the need to share with the community some of our thoughts: we see the Internet as the next big thing in Romania’s media landscape and we believe that together with our users we’ll create a great experience. Continue reading ‘Intact: one community we’re building together’
Later edit: funny – GSPTV Live

The Romanian word for “free” is sometimes “gratis” and sometimes “liber”.
But freedom doesn’t mean that everything is free. I was amazed to see how many socialists with communist ideas we have on our blogoshpere and on the Internet. Continue reading ‘Liber vs. Gratis – the modern secret police’
Financiarul announces the first surprise for this autumn: romanian radio and tv stars Mihai Morar and Daniel Buzdugan joined the group and started a new radio project (I already can tell it’s going to be too cool)
The new station will use the combined frequencies of News FM and Romantic FM – since I saw rumors in media about Romantic FM closing down and I can tell you there are no reasons to worry about this.
A few hours ago I’ve sent an e-mail to a group of people pointing out some piracy issues. I don’t know how but the exact e-mail (not the information) was published on a blog a started tons of discussions. I always thought that discretion was one of my qualities and I always knew I had the law to protect me.

Adevarul has an article today regarding online piracy and of course I can only wonder about the world we live in and all the fuzz started on blogs these days.
Antena1 was not the only network targeted by pirates: TVR, Pro TV, Prima TV, Realitatea TV, National TV, PRO Cinema, Cinemax or HBO are also available all over the Internet.

Our approach was discreet and we didn’t want to make a big fuzz over this but since Valentin Petcu (romanian blogger) managed to get a copy of my e-mail to third parties and published it on his blog (thank you for promoting this issue and backing us in the fight against piracy), here are some info on the matter.
Our lawyers started to notify the following websites in order to stop uploading TV shows or broadcast online streams from Antena1, Antena2, Antena3, Antena International, EuforiaTv and GspTV:

GSPTV has another football weekend and here is the only official website where you can see gsptv online.
During the last 2 weeks I really made a passion for “cool-tv” and learned more about SopCast (this is a simple way the pirates use to broadcast video and audio on the Internet, using peer-to-peer technology). Continue reading ‘gsptv online’
Gusti spoiled a surprise prepared in the fight against online piracy. All the websites broadcasting movies and tv channels produced by Intact will be officially notified in order to be closed down.
The first one closed: ingurapresei.net (yesterday) – publishing Mircea Badea’s show (thanks Piticu). Continue reading ‘Fighting online piracy – the big league’
The famous European project MyVideo.de (ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG) moves to Romania before YouTube and launches MyVideo.ro – of course they have a plan and my sources say they’re surfing with a local media player (SBS Broadcasting Group) backing them (we’ll have to see how they perform).
This means Trilulilu.ro and 220.ro have another competitor but as I check out their website, I already noticed that they started on the left foot.

Gusti starts his week with a new website and some good news.
GSP launches today a new online regional sports newspaper for Iasi: www.IasiSport.ro. The website will keep you posted with news, results and standings from football and rugby to basketball or handball.

A few days ago a New York judge told Google to open its logs (including viewer user names, IP addresses and what they watched) to VIACOM in a one billion dollar lawsuit over alleged copyright infringement.
VIACOM was accusing YouTube of “massive intentional copyright infringement” – 160,000 unauthorized Viacom clips have been uploaded onto YouTube, totaling more than 1.5 billion views.
Last week, MEDIASET had a press release announcing their new lawsuit against Google: Continue reading ‘MEDIASET sues YouTube for EUR 500 million’
