A sad news for all the romanian music lovers – Gil Dobrica went to heaven leaving us all his great songs and fine memories.
First time I met him when I was a student and I wanted to have Gil singing at our party. He really rocked the stage and I could see he was a natural talent. Last time we met, I invited him to sing at a festival and he was happy to see the people asking for his songs and having a good time.
Gil, rest in peace!
Un porche est une pièce ou galerie se trouvant devant l’entrée d’un édifice, formant avant-corps bas, placé devant la façade du bâtiment qu’il commande, il est souvent hors Å“uvre.
This explanation above is only for 5 readers of my blog – I hope is useful
This weekend we visited Angajatori de Top – as we were very curious about their strategy and positioning (their event took place in the last days of the Easter holiday).
Since the competition on this market is hard, we had our people at Sala Palatului – a small team counting visitors and a bigger team gathering on-site information. I’m happy to say that we received a full report and some of our predictions turned out to be true.
First of all, trafic.ro is providing us precious info about the online visitors of the official website:
- 7.303 on Friday
- 3.780 on Saturday
Total 11.083 online visitors
Our people brought us extra information. The event didn’t have a proper visitors count (the officials counted the distributed catalogues but there were visitors taking more than 1 piece or no catalogue at all). This is were we stepped in and had our own count:
- 2.707 on Friday (rush hour 13:00-14:00)
- 5.042 on Saturday (rush hours 12:00-15:00)
Total: 7.749 people
I guess 7.749 is a very good number for a holiday weekend. You can notice that the online figures are quite the opposite but that’s another story. The good number on Saturday is due to the good TV coverage they had on Friday.
Of course, there are other stories to tell but since I’m an egoist
, I’ll keep them to myself.
News update on Reuters: Web advertising leader Google Inc. said on Friday it will acquire DoubleClick Inc., a leading online advertising network, for $3.1 billion, consolidating Google’s grip on the Internet ad market.
The deal represents the largest acquisition in Google’s history and comes just six months after Google paid $1.65 billion to acquire video-sharing site YouTube. Terms of the deal call for Google to pay cash to DoubleClick investors. Full story…
In Romanian TCB actually stands for “Targul de Cariere Bucuresti” (“Bucharest Career Fair”).

Never badmouth a competitor – Tom Peters says so but this is not the only reason to do so
:
Speak Not Ill of Thine Competitors
Does this require more explanation than the Golden Rule (“Do unto others …”): Badmouthing competitors diminishes you. Period.
“Win” with better product.
“Win” with better relationships.
“Win” when your industry is prospering and has a good reputation. (Think consultants, ad agencies, lawyers, for example.)Build up your competitors!
Build up your entire industry!(And if a competitor is missing deadlines, etc., instead of piling on, say, “Yes, I do hear they’re going through a rough patch; but they’re a good company and a good competitor and I’m sure they’ll sort things out.” Or some such.)
Decency rules!
Decency rules! (And, paradoxically, the more “dog eat dog” the competitive situation, the more the “decency advantage” matters.
Now, I have to thank a few people for building my personal brand: Andreea (she seems nice), Andy, Cristian Hossu and Dragos Gheban – although they are going through a difficult period, I want to wish them good luck with the event they have this week.
Angajatori de Top is one of the most important events for the young professionals and on 13th and 14th of April you will also have the chance to check it out at Sala Palatului.

Catalin writes about his visit at PROWEIN in Düsseldorf (over 3.000 companies from 43 countries and over 32.000 professionals).
Cezar was also there but he was disappointed of certain aspects (he wrote an article in Prezent when he came back in Romania).
Mike Steinberger asks “who’s to blame for expensive wine?” and points to the new asian market embracing oenophilia – see “Bordeaux Meets Beijing”.
China is not the only country targeted by the wine producers. After Romania joined the E.U., more and more wine producers seem to be interested in promoting their brands on Vinul.ro – after Chile, this week we received requests from Hungary and Australia.
Some guy (business competitor) woke me up this morning because somebody had “the same address like I do” and because he received some kind of e-mail.
Moments like this make me happy I have all the anonymous proxy server and anonymizing software installed.
When the guy said he’s been tracking me since 2005
he really made my day – I use some fake IPs, but ones that are most popular in Romania so It’s like other thousand users living under the same roof.
Why use an IP changing software/proxy server and anonymizing software?
- In order to stay up-to-date with the targeted campaigns on the local ad servers. For example, ARBOmedia has some campaigns for the agencies.
- to check out if a campaign is targeted in another city or for the users outside Romania (for example, this blog is promoted on all our website but the ad is available only for the non-Romanian ips)
- to test online software
- to hide your real ip ![]()
- to make your friends (who track you since 2005) belive that you’re always online
Guys, now that you know that there is anonymizing software maybe is high time to start tapping my phone calls – the chance to find out more about me are quite high as I have 4 phone numbers (only 2 are cdma secure connections).
And BTW, since your company is independent and non-governmental maybe you should know that the act of tracking my phone calls, e-mails, ips, keyboard, bank account, love life, might be (although I’m not sure) illegal.
This special message is for Cristian, Dragos & Ana (they still use their real IP addresses) – You still have my respect and I know It is very hard to have competitors on this market. In case I didn’t mentioned, we try to be the best
– please don’t call me anymore at 4:00 a.m. unless you want to take me out for a drink
