The movie below is very emotional – the story is quite clear and although I’m not Korean I can keep up with it:
Notice the great product placement for the NIKON cameras and the BMW bikes.
The BMW motorcycles first appeared in Korea in 1999, and their popularity exploded throughout the nation… they create feelings

Here is something interesting.
I have reasons to belive that this is an awareness campaign.
My father was a racing driver in the national rally championship. This is why I always had a passion for racing. I remember that Ari Vatanen was a childhood hero and I was thrilled to find this movie on YouTube.
This footage showing Ari Vatanen in a 405 T16 climbing Pikes Peak was made by Jean Louis Mourey and it received several awards in the 90s.
In June of 2004, Ari Vatanen was elected again as a Member of the European Parliament – from France this time around. Even in the French delegation, Ari Vatanen is keen to defend all of Europe’s and above all the interests of the global human family. “The invisible hand of life has put me on a path that I could not even had imagined while growing up. On June 13th, 2004 I was awarded a second term at the European Parliament. A warm thank to all for the encouragement! Even though the delegation this time is in southern France, I would like to refresh what a famous Finnish politician, Mr Johannes Virolainen said in thick Karelian accent: “The same man, the same speeches!”
A few days ago Ari Vatanen spoke about “The Drive For Clean Energy” at the Royal George Hotel in Perth, Scotland.
In the near future I also see Michael Schumacher involved in politics as a member of the European Parliament. He would probably have a great impact in promoting the renewable energy – this is an idea for Margot Wallstrom.
New Snickers ad for the Middle East – the regional positioning is “Don’t Stop”:
First shot in Jeddah then animated in Amsterdam – cool Kuwaiti hip-hop song in the background.
My laptop works just fine
– I just needed a new a new computer for heavy use (mainly Internet and light office) so I decided to buy the most affordable machine on the market. Since a desktop was not the best choice, I thought of a laptop so this is what I got for 469 EUR (very good value for this money):
HP 500 Celeron-M 350
Intel Celeron-M 350, 1,3 Ghz, 14.1 WXGA Display, 256MB DDR RAM, 40GB HDD,DVD/CD-RW, 56K Modem, 4-Cell LiIon Batt – only 2.26 Kg.
I must say I’m quite happy with the design and performance – this computer is great for Internet browsing and docked office work (I’m still amazed to find out that the local governmental institutions still buy 2.000 EUR laptops for Solitaire and FreeCell use).
The nation is ready for the show. Myspace, Yahoo, Digg, Google, YouTube are ready for the U.S. presidential campaign and this time they say that the Internet will make the difference.
The clip below had over 2.000.000 hits and counting:
This campaign spot for Obama Barack is a parody of the 1984 Apple Computer Super Bowl spot. Hillary Clinton has been substituted for IBM as the mind numbing voice of conformity. In the original spot, the Macintosh was introduced as ‘the computer for the rest of us.’ Presumably, in this spot, Barack Obama, ‘is the candidate for the rest of us.’ (though a person would have to be older or check the original spot to make this connection).
This post is an endorsement of the spot which is the most clever of the campaign season. This is not an endorsement of any candidate.
The funding for this movie has to be quite high so here are some facts provided by the political enemies:
Less than two months after ascending to the United States Senate, Barack Obama bought more than $50,000 worth of stock in two speculative companies whose major investors included some of his biggest political donors, according to a report in The New York Times on 7 March.
One of the companies was a biotech concern that was starting to develop a drug to treat avian flu. In March 2005, two weeks after buying about $5,000 of its shares, Mr. Obama took the lead in a legislative push for more federal spending to battle the disease.
The most recent financial disclosure form for Mr. Obama also shows that he bought more than $50,000 in stock in a satellite communications business whose principal backers include four friends and donors who had raised more than $150,000 for his political committees.
A spokesman for Mr. Obama, who is seeking his party’s presidential nomination in 2008, said yesterday that the senator did not know that he had invested in either company until fall 2005, when he learned of it and decided to sell the stocks. He sold them at a net loss of $13,000.
The spokesman, Bill Burton, said Mr. Obama’s broker bought the stocks without consulting the senator, under the terms of a blind trust that was being set up for the senator at that time but was not finalized until several months after the investments were made.
Mr. Obama has made ethics a signature issue, and his quest for the presidency has benefited from the perception thathe is unlike politicians who blend public and private interests. There is no evidence that any of his actions ended up benefiting either company during the roughly eight months that he owned the stocks. Even so, the stock purchases raise questions about how he could unwittingly come to invest in two relatively obscure companies, whose backers happen to include generous contributors to his political committees. Among those donors was Jared Abbruzzese, a New York businessman now at the center of an F.B.I. inquiry into public corruption in Albany, who had also contributed to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a group that sought to undermine John Kerry’s Democratic presidential campaign in 2004. Mr. Obama, who declined to be interviewed about the stock deals, has already had to contend with a controversy that arose out of his reliance on a major campaign contributor in Chicago to help him in a personal financial transaction. In that earlier case, he acknowledged last year that it had been a mistake to involve the contributor, a developer who has since been indicted in an unrelated political scandal, in deals related to the Obamas’ purchase of a home.
The investments came at a time when Mr. Obama was enjoying sudden financial success, following his victory at the polls in November 2004. He had signed a $1.9 million book deal, and his ethics disclosure reports show that he received $1.2 million of book money in 2005.
His wife, Michelle, a hospital vice president in Chicago, received a promotion that March, nearly tripling her salary to $317,000, and they bought a $1.6 million house in June. The house sat on a large property that was subdivided to make it more affordable, and one of Mr. Obama’s political donors bought the adjacent lot.
I’m doing a research on subliminal messages and symbols provided by the advertising industry while working in developing some urban stories.
I’ve noticed that there are few urban stories on the local market and I’m sure that people need them.
Some interesting examples for me were provided by the anti-globalization movement: very subtle, very intelligent, short stories with a certain aura of mystery and conspiracy.
This were some ingredients in creating great urban legends:
![]()
Here is the World Economic Forum logo.
At a first glance you’ll probably see just a simple logo – maybe in the middle is a half moon or the sun. The urban legend started states that the semi-circle line crossing the “O” letter forms the figure 6.
In the same area, another legend was started at the G8 2005 forum (see the second logo to the left
).

They say that in the middle, the white spaces hide the occult symbol of the horned owl. With a little imagination you can see the head and body of the owl.
Other fun stuff is available out there on the Internet but I have to carry on with my study so you’ll have to digg it yourself

After more than a quarter-century of market-oriented economic policies and record-setting growth, China on Friday enacted its first law to protect private property explicitly.
The measure, which was delayed a year ago amid vocal opposition from resurgent socialist intellectuals and old-line, left-leaning members of the ruling Communist Party, is viewed by its supporters as building a new and more secure legal foundation for private entrepreneurs and the country’s urban middle-class home and car owners…
1984
Here is a piece of history on YouTube. Former KGB agent and Soviet defector Yuri Alexandrovich Bezmenov (caused immense damage to the KGB by revealing the Russian “sleepers” and left-wing sympathizers had been “planted” in journalistic and editorial positions throughout the American media) explains Communist psychological warfare methods and results. The shootage is from 1984.
2007
The psychological warfare methods are the same in 2007 although the players and enemies have changed.
As Bezmenov mentioned in the movie above, the young generations are always the main target of the psychological warfare. Romania is also targeted because like every NATO/EU country, has its enemies.
The Internet is a very good environment for targeting students and young people so you might like to search the Romanian blogosphere in order to find evidence of an ongoing invisible war: SF DIXIT, Avionaru, Zoso, Ionut Ciurea, Vivi, Radu…
Subversion: Action designed to undermine the military, economic, psychological or political strength of a regime. (JCS Pub 1-02)

We conducted a study in order to find out the figures for the Romanian career events market.
Numbers: 600.000 EUR in 2006, more than 1.250.000 EUR in 2007.
The research was secret a few days ago but we decided to let it out: the press release here…
Our creative intelligence was at its best in the last weeks so we managed to create one of the most attractive concepts in the market.
We had to wait for the competition and gather all the vital information from the competitive environment and during all this time we had to think out of the box.
One crucial thing in Bucharest is to find a big place for a career fair. This place also has to be very accessible (preferably in the middle of the city) and to have a strong brand.
This is why it’s very hard to find such a building in the center of the city. While our competition was running from one place to another, we took our time to prepare the concept.
Our first thought: “why do it in a building?” – so we focused on one of the main squares in Bucharest (Piata Revolutiei) and we decided to place it there. This is how we managed to have a 1700 sq m area for the event – in this zone we’ll built a pavilion: very modern, very good looking, brought from Germany.
Another important thing is that we could easily place our event in time as we didn’t depend on other events in the same place. So we chose the last week in April because we wanted to have a distance from the Easter holiday and the Labor Day and the student exam session.
“Piata Revolutiei” gave us the chance to brand something cool. The word “Revolution” implies “Evolution” and we believe that the fair will be a place for career evolutions.
Very interesting will also be the Career Cafe – a place where you can come for a coffee with actual managers or counselors and talk about career opportunities.
As I know that my blog is read by the competition, this is where I’ll stop although I have to thank them: because of you guys we had to work twice as hard and think twice as fast so this event will be great because of you also.
Later update: The press release here.
and check out the website here…
Zoso was first to write it here on sunday and I confirm: we signed the contract with Anathema and they’ll be in the main square in Sibiu this summer at the ARTmania festival.
I know that there were tons of rumors and talks around the subject and this means that Anathema has a strong fan community in Romania.
A Dutch counterintelligence agency notices focuses on the growing role of the Internet in Islamic extremist circles – last week I was blogging about IslamTube.
“Jihadis and the Internet” is a report published by the NCC (National Coordinator for Counterterrorism – Netherlands) last month. The Dutch counterintelligence report describes the Internet both as a target and a weapon.
Here are some classifications of terrorist/ jihadi Internet usage:
- information provision
- financing/fund raising
- networking
- recruitment
- psychological warmongering
- information gathering
- publicity and propaganda
- internal communication
- virtual training camp
- virtual islamic state

US Advertising Overview by Datamonitor (The Home of Business Intelligence):
- $260 billion;
- 14% of this went to advertising agencies
- annual growth of approximately 3% forecast for the next five years
- the online advertising is the fastest-growing sector
Key Issues
Online Growth
Online Growth – A soaring online population in the US has attracted the attention of advertisers keen to expand their potential audience. Online advertising allows advertisers to target specific consumer groups, and Internet use is greater among consumers with higher disposable incomes.
Such features are generating massive demand for online advertising solutions.Older Media in Decline
Older Media in Decline – A decline in newspaper circulation and dwindling viewers per channel for the major US TV networks is leading to a change in the pattern of advertising expenditure as advertisers look to maximize their potential audience by matching consumer media consumption patterns.Procurement Officers
Procurement Officers – Procurement officers employed by advertisers clients are arranging the purchase of advertising, and auditing its effectiveness. This has stimulated competition, creating significant pricing pressures while dampening margins through additional costs as clients demand more complex information regarding their advertising solutions.Significant Trends
Innovation
Innovation – Advertisers are exploiting new media platforms to expand their potential audience and drive sales. The online segment witnessed heavy investment in coordinated search and display campaigns in 2006, while the introduction of DVR with its ad-skipping facility has lead to innovation in TV advertising, with product placement now a major alternative to traditional advertisements.Business Optimization
Business Optimization – Through the analysis of metrics associated with user segmentation, traffic and Cost per Keyword (CKP), advertisers are able to monitor the effectiveness of their campaigns, making adjustments to maximize return on expenditure.M&A Activity
M&A Activity – Strategic acquisition remains a key growth driver for the major players. By acquiring companies with a strong performance in online or mobile advertising, firms are gaining immediate expertise and market share within these growing sectors, while obtaining inorganic growth in revenues.
Top 10 revenues as of Mar 09, 2007 (M):
1. Omnicom Group Inc. – $11,376.9
2. WPP Group plc (ADR) – $11,149.2
3. Interpublic Group of Companies, Inc. – $6,190.8
4. Publicis Groupe S.A. (ADR) – $5,661.1
5. Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, Inc. – $2,897.7
6. Havas (ADR) – $1,940.8
7. Source Interlink Companies – $1,845.3
8. Liberty Media Corporation (Capital) – $1,287.0
9. Lamar Advertising Company – $1,120.1
10. Monster Worldwide, Inc. – $1,116.7
Datamonitor is a premium business information company specializing in industry and company analysis. Their reports cover up to 165 industries in over 10 geographies and can be reliable Business Intelligence – their services are used also in Romania and some of the reports can be quite handy (the “Advertising in China” 19 pages report for example can be ordered online and it costs around 200$).
Again – the product is just a promise and probably will be a common phone. The media industry turned it into a myth.

While Apple enjoys all the free PR the european competition uses political methods to prepare the iPhone arrival: The European Union takes aim at Apple over iTunes and iPod.
The EU consumer chief Meglena Kuneva has hit out at Apple Inc.’s bundling of its popular iPod music players and its iTunes online music store, according to German weekly magazine Focus cited by REUTERS..
“Do you think it’s fine that a CD plays in all CD players but that an iTunes song only plays in an iPod? I don’t. Something has to change,” EU Consumer Protection Commissioner Kuneva was quoted as saying in a preview of an interview to be published TODAY.

Chairman E. Neville Isdell received $7 million in salary and performance-based pay in 2006.
Coca-Cola said that Isdell’s incentive award was based on the company’s strong performance during 2006, including results at the top end of its long-term volume and profit goals (the company’s unit case volume and net income each rose 4% in 2006.
$7 million is also a figure describing another story in Romania and although they seem to like me in China, I’m pretty sure that the fun is still around

After My Dying Bride, The Gathering and Haggard confirmed their presence in Sibiu at the ARTmania festival, the Finnish group TAROT announced today a special concert. If you don’t now many things about TAROT, you should know that this is the second metal band conducted by Marco Hietala (NIGHTWISH).
How do I know all these things? Because I’m handling the PR for the event this summer.
The ARTmania festival is organized by the ARTmania foundation, a romanian NGO focused on creating and promoting first class cultural events.
The press release is available here.
You can check out the official blog here.
THIS IS HOT and will hit the press in a few hours.
Do you wonder how many unique visitors are really in Romania?
Netbridge will say that the magic number is 3,5 million – this is how many unique users from Romania have accessed the Romanian websites between 26th of February and the 4th of march (to be more precise 3.539.507 visitors).
The big number shows 10.739.546 but the rest of 7.200.039 come from other countries.
MUST KNOW: this numbers show the absolute unique users ( this is the new count Trafic.ro implemented beginning with the 1st of march 2007).
The top 3 sections look this:
1. Computers/Internet -1.602.727 (this section is also a leader gathering foreign traffic – 4.116.881 visitor from outside Romania).
2. Search engines/Portal -1.406.586
3. News/Mass-media – 1.035.171
The blogs seem to become more and more popular (maybe because of roblogfest also) – there are 194.046 readers from Romania and 59.662 foreign readers (more than the Real Estate section).
Another precious information is that there were 362.780 people accessing jobbing websites and only 429.944 dating websites.
Very good figures come from the e-shopping websites (virtual stores) – 792.187 from Romania, 909.976 International.
LATER EDIT: Sorin Tudor blogs about this here – I’ve seen that some of the users didn’t got the fact that this count is per week so there are some of them that expressed a negative reaction towards the press release.
A new interesting website draw my attention: IslamTube.
I’m confused… some of the areas promote peace, some seem to be produced for the masses but some are very painful.
I don’t know who is behind the website but you can see the potential: now it’s easier to create, upload and share a home movie made in a cave by Osama ibn Laden or to make fun of George Bush…
Reuters: French billionaire Bernard Arnault said on Wednesday he had taken a 9.1 percent stake in supermarket giant Carrefour jointly with U.S. private equity group Colony Capital.
In a statement with Colony, Groupe Arnault said together with a 0.7 percent stake in Carrefour held by investment group Axon Capital, the consortium now controlled 9.8 percent of the world’s second largest retailer.
On the 5th of March Aura was wondering about the first romanian company to open a bureau in Second Life. India, China and Russia Experience Highest Audience Growth Rates Year-over-Year; Canada, Israel, and Korea Log the Most Time Online
London, U.K., March 6, 2007 – comScore Networks, a leader in measuring the digital age, today announced that 747 million people, age 15+, used the Internet worldwide in January 2007, a 10-percent increase versus January 2006. Among the top 15 countries (ranked by penetration), Internet audiences in India, the Russian Federation and China increased the most in 2006, growing 33, 21 and 20 percent, respectively. China now represents the second-largest Internet population in the world, with 86.8 million users, after the U.S., which rose 2 percent year-over-year to 153.4 million users age 15 or older in January 2007.“The importance of the worldwide Internet population continues to grow,” said Bob Ivins, managing director, comScore Europe. “Internet users outside the U.S. now account for 80 percent of the world’s online population, with rapidly developing countries experiencing double-digit growth rates year-over-year.”
Canada, Israel, and South Korea Lead the World in Online Engagement
As a measure of engagement, comScore also analyzed the top 10 countries ranked by average hours online per visitor for January 2007. Canada led the list, with the average user spending 39.6 hours (and 41.3 hours/ month among broadband users) online during the month. Rounding out the top 5 were Israel, South Korea, the U.S. and the U.K. – all countries with high broadband penetration. In fact, in each of the top 10 countries, the time spent online by users with a broadband connection was substantially greater than the time spent by users with a narrowband connection.
While reading Ramona’s blog I’ve noticed that my page is also linked by iLeo – the only thing I can say is that they had a good damage control after the launch earlier this year (good job there) and the new stuff looks good (meanwhile I also bought a Centrino Duo processor for the flash graphics

I also have to say that I was surprised to find my page mentioned as one of “Romania’s Top Blogs” as I try to be quite discreet when blogging on my niche

Why is that you ask?
Because I can say that all your base are belong to us and know that someone at Leo Burnett will smile while reading this
Everybody can see now the famous Russian Typhoon class submarines on Google Earth (their nuclear warheads were once aimed at the United States) – this movie is maybe another example of how the Internet changed the way we think (the picture shown on Google Earth was considered “classified” by the Russian army a few years ago).
The North Atlantic was the Typhoon playground during the Cold War (as you can see, still is). This ship is the world’s largest submarine and was also one of the most feared weapons of the Cold War – each submarine is capable of carrying twenty long-range ballistic missiles with up to 200 nuclear warheads.
The movie below also shows Nimitz, Ohio and Iowa class battle ships.
According to the Federation of American Scientists, in January 2000 it was reported that three of six Russian Typhoon-class submarines would remain in active operation to test the new Bark-class strategic missiles, contrary to both the plans of the Co-operative Threat Reduction program and reports that Bark-class missiles had been cancelled due to design failures. The Russian Navy reportedly believes that 12 strategic nuclear submarines with ballistic missiles represent the minimum necessary force structure. According to media reports a classified presidential decree of 04 March 2000 established this force goal for the period through 2010.
