Trafic.ro is the oldest and one of the most trusted audit websites for Romanian webmasters as it displays statistics for over 45.000 internet websites. The service measures Romanian Internet traffic since 2000 and in the last year they started to display an open strategy built around its community.
As we speak, Romanian online advertising has 2 accepted official measuring tools (the other one is SATI/BRAT) but trafic.ro still has the psychologycal advantage of being the first on the market, a better technical application for measuring and delivering data in realtime and it is more cost effective than SATI. Fascinating stories I hear every day from the guys in Bucharest setting up theWorld Blogging Forum.
For example, some of the bloggers they wanted to invite are imprisoned because they were talking about online activism as the government wanted to send a signal to other online voices in order to keep silent. This is the case of the case of Adnan Hajizade and Emin Milli in Azerbaijan – it seems that OSCE, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, Reporters Without Borders etc already following the case closely. During the last months we’ve heard on TV that people used twitter, youtube or facebook to send news and updates from conflict zones all over the world. We witnessed it in Georgia in 2008 and in Moldova in 2009 – now, two of the twitter correspondents will join the World Blogging Forum in Bucharest:
Giorgi Jakhaia a.k.a. Cyxymu’, is a Georgian blogger who was targeted in a co-ordinated series of attacks on social networking sites Facebook, Google Blogger, Live Journal and Twitter.
‘Government as a Platform‘ is the theme and clarion call of Gov 2.0 Summit and Gov 2.0 Expo Showcase in 2009—the disruptive innovations in technology and process that will foster new levels of transparency, efficiency and participation in government today.
Tim O’Reilly has responded to the question “What is Gov 2.0?“. We want to know what YOU have to say about it.
We encourage you to record a short video response (30 seconds max), answering the question “What does Gov 2.0 mean to you?”. From the responses, we’re creating a collective of videos that we’ll feature on this page, onsite during Gov 2.0 Summit (September 9-10), via the Gov 2.0 Events Facebook page, on GovLoop, and via Twitter.
I was honored to be a mentor in JCI’s (Junior Chamber International) young entrepreneur contest this year. My mentee was Teodor Mincu and happy to say that his business plan was ranked no.1 in the national contest and that he won the grand prize.
The competition showed that the idea is not the only important thing when starting a business and I’m really excited to see that more and more Romanian entrepreneurs are building business plans before starting the actual deals.
Congratulations to Teodor (Doru) and to JCI Romania. Doru’s plan is to create an online social network that will change Romania, will improve life of millions of people and, hopefully, will save lives.
I came back very optimistic regarding the online future in Romania after networking with marketing managers from FMCG, IT, Banking, Real Estate and Pharma. The trend is to invest more in online and approach integrated TV-online strategies.

One interesting thing I’ve noticed is that everybody has an open mind regarding the Internet (from Real Estate to Industrial products) and that there are business opportunities waiting to be exploited during the crisis.
Congratulations to Tudor Maxim and Mihai Nasaudean for the launch event they hosted yesterday and for all their efforts to provide quality networking for local business entrepreneurs.
BBC Top Gear Romania and Puma Sports Romania invited me yesterday to see The Fast and The Furios 4. Since I’m a driving fan, I really did enjoy the movie and the cars
PUMA Sports is the official partner of the movie (check it out at fastandfuriousmovie.net ) and the guys at Puma Sports Romania really made my evening (I’m quite a fan of their sportswear since Michael Schumacher) – at the end I received a miniature red F1 car complementary gift (cool).
Congratulations to my colleagues at TopGear, to Serban Barbato, Ana Oprea, Costin Giurgea for setting up a great event. I had a good time!
Garnier Romania went through a lot of effort and hard work (almost 12 months/more than 100.000 EUR) to unveil their latest online platform – www.aigrijadetine.ro . Yesterday they had the official launch and I found out that the people behind the project are Radu Ionescu and Mircea Pascu. Congratulations!
One of the best offline website launches in Romania and a great event.
This week we had two challenging Internet events in Romania. Only Politica 2.0 had foreign guests but Webstock had a genuine focus on the local entrepreneurial and business community (a very good event for networking if you were interested to invest in Romania). My presentation for Strategic Marketing is finally ready and it’s called “Blogs – Competitive through information”.
I wanted to add value for the business men attending the event and I believe this will be for the first time in Romania we’ll have the chance to talk about business blogs as sources of competitive information, raw intelligence or OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) – friends tell me the latest blogging events in Romania shared the same old/sometimes lame themes/ideas.
Using art to raise awareness for the traditional Romanian customs and products is not something new but this is the first slow food movement to do this.
The sculpture above is made from traditional and very rare Plescoi sausages made by Adrian Ilfoveanu, a local modern artist. The good news is that you can see it live at Muzeul Taranului Roman – Clubul Taranului until the 25th of September along with a black and white photo exhibition signed by the international artist and photographer Nicu Ilfoveanu.
Strategic Marketing is the latest event promoted by the Business Media Group this autumn and it targets over 500 specialists in marketing, media, advertising, pr and sales. Some of the guest speakers invited will be Paul Garrison, Jared Salter, Ana Matos and Robert Zanescu and the event will take place on the 23rd of October at the World Trade Center in Bucharest.
I already confirmed my interest in this event and I’m happy to say that I’ll be one of the speakers in the “Blogging for business” workshop.
“The whole world is changing. Communication is re-shaping the face of the world. Europe is the one to set the trends, as always. We need to face those changes, know them, and be the pioneers of change. We invite you to the IAA European Summit 2007 to get insight on how to stay on top of the change!”
This is the main event of the year in the marcomm industry and will take place on the 26th and 28th of September in Bucharest. You can find out more about the event on the official website.
